Suzy Obuck

SuzySuzy is thrilled to join the Vajra Yoga and Meditation class offerings at the Breathing Project.  She is a graduate of both the Vajra Yoga and Meditation (VY&M) teacher training, and the Social Action Teacher Training, with Jill Satterfield.  She feels blessed to have studied with amazing teachers like Jill as well as Amy Matthews, and Leslie Kaminoff.

She has been studying yoga and meditation for over seven years, but it was dealing with the physical and psychological effects of illness that put her on her current path.  Yoga was her first step towards wellness, empowering her to connect mind, body, and spirit.  The practice continues to sustain her and inspires her to help others.

Her calm, thoughtful, approach caters to the needs and abilities of each student.  It is Suzy’s firm belief that a yoga practice should fit the person, not the other way around.  She makes a genuine connection with her students, creating an intimate, caring atmosphere in her classes.  Her aim is to inspire kindness and patience in her students as they find their individual practice.

Through the VY&M Social Action program, Suzy looks forward to applying these powerful therapies to chronic pain and illness.  Suzy continues to study various approaches for the therapeutic applications of classical yoga.

Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, has also been an important part of Suzy’s life and training over the last 2 years.  She is grateful to be training in this complementary tradition and seeks to infuse her yoga classes with the playful spirit found in capoeira.

Suzy teaches classes and privates in NYC and Brooklyn.
