Who We Are…
Leslie Kaminoff founded The Breathing Project as a non-profit educational corporation in December 2001 with the mission to promote the highest possible standards in Yoga Education to the professional and general public. The senior teaching staff now includes Amy Matthews.
Since the opening of The Breathing Project's New York City studio in March 2003, the demand for our innovative programming has been steadily increasing. Our unique Advanced Studies Program has struck a chord with a growing community of Yoga teachers committed to extending their professional skills and knowledge.
The Breathing Project operates independently of any established organization, Yoga lineage or teaching system, but supports open-minded individuals from all traditions who seek continuing education and training.

Our Mission Statement
The Breathing Project creates innovative learning opportunities based on experiences of body, breath and mind.
We teach principles of human structure and movement in relationship to the individual nature of every body. These principles can be integrated with any style or technique.
Our teachers are dedicated to developing an atmosphere of safety and trust. In our programs, workshops and classes, we empower each person to explore their own process of learning and to value the uniqueness of their own experience.
Our Breathing Project team is committed to creating relationships that reflect our core values of respect, integrity, joy and abundance.
Our studio's continued functioning is made possible by the involvement of our students, members and donors. We hope you'll become part of our growing community by attending a class or workshop, or by making a tax-deductible donation of any amount. The Breathing Project is a federally tax- exempt 501(c)(3) educational corpration. All charitable donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by the law.
