SUMMER IMMERSIONS
Hands-On Breath & Movement Lab with Leslie Kaminoff
August 5 - 9
Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 5pm

In the Hands-On Breath and Movement Lab, Leslie will be sharing techniques he's developed over the past 34 years of working with groups and individuals. Leslie has been demonstrating these techniques for years in his free ABCs Clinic, and now you can learn the basics of how to do what he does.
Some of our explorations will be:
- How to verbally cue breath-centered alignment adjustments
- Principles of individual modification and sequencing
- How to administer powerful yet safe and gentle hands-on adjustments
- Manual and prop-assisted techniques of breath release, based on Leslie's shape-change model of breathing
- How to shift teaching language from a form-oriented to a function-oriented foundation
This immersion will involve demonstrations, supervised partner exchanges and some group practice of asana and breath. It is open to any experienced yoga, movement or clinical practitioner with a desire to deepen and broaden their practice while expanding their skill set.
See below for prices and registration info.
The Dynamics of Observation with Amy Matthews
August 12 - 16
Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 5pm
Observing movement, analyzing what we see and finding the words to describe it are fundamental skills for working with students and clients. Our own preferences shape what we see and how we communicate our observations - and cultivating awareness of these preferences helps us be more effective at offering feedback, suggestions and hands-on support.
In this immersion we will use the vocabulary of Laban Movement Analysis and Body-Mind Centering® to explore the following questions:
- How do we communicate what we see?
- Is it possible to be a neutral observer?
- What are our own preferences, and how do they affect what we observe?
- How can we learn to see what someone else is observing?
- Can we learn to observe differently?
- What is the difference between observing and interpreting?
- How many different ways can we describe a movement?
This immersion will involve discussion, movement and plenty of practice at observing and being observed. No previous experience with Body-Mind Centering or Laban Movement Analysis is necessary.
PRICES:
Single immersion: $950
If paid in full by June 10: $800
Both Immersions: $1700

EMBRYOLOGY with Amy Matthews
Tuesdays 6:30-8:00pm

The study of embryology is an incredibly rich field, with the potential to exponentially deepen our understanding of human structure, movement and function. With a new understanding of the fluid origins of cells, tissues and systems we can transform our experiences of movement and re-pattern our relationships to gravity, the environment and our community in radical ways.
This course meets weekly and will explore different topics in embryology and their applications to movement. Each session involves both discussion and movement - any level of movement ability is welcome, and no previous yoga experience is necessary.

A&K ASANA with Amy Matthews
Fridays 3:45-5:00pm

One of the challenges of learning new material in subjects like anatomy & kinesiology is imagining ways to apply that new information in a class, whether you are a student applying the information in your own body or a teacher planning a class. This class is an opportunity to spend time experiencing and integrating particular parts of the anatomy and kinesiology material that has been taught in the Embodied Anatomy & Kinesiology class that afternoon, and is an opportunity to see how that material can be integrated into an asana practice.
If you are interested in coming to this class without attending the Embodied A & K class beforehand, please contact Amy.
