Edya Kalev
Edya Kalev is a movement educator who helps people reveal their truest and healthiest selves. She teaches classes in both gentle breath-centered yoga and MELT to relieve chronic pain, improve balance, increase coordination and build body awareness.
Edya has studied with some of New York’s most respected and innovative yoga teachers, including Leslie Kaminoff (author of Yoga Anatomy), Amy Matthews (Body-Mind Centering, author of Yoga Anatomy), Cheri Clampett and Arturo Peale (Restorative Yoga), Deborah Quilter (Yoga for Seniors), Jyothi Larson (Mommy & Baby Yoga), and Mari Miyoshi (Brain Gym). She has also studied yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Vendanta Ashram in Kerala and the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India.
Edya began her MELT studies in 2006 with Creator Sue Hitzmann, and is now one of the senior teachers of this unique method of “hands-off bodywork.” She offers specialized classes, workshops and trainings, including the only MELT class in New York City for people with neurological conditions, such as MS and Parkinsons. For more information about MELT, go to www.meltmethod.com.
Edya also teaches adults, children, teens, and seniors at locations throughout New York City, including Reebok, the YMCA, and the JCC Manhattan, but she calls The Breathing Project “home”.
