Advanced Studies: Anatomy Courses
Somatic Synthesis Weekend Workshops
with Amy Matthews

These weekend workshops are opportunities to explore advanced concepts in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology and embryology. In these workshops we pay particular attention to the development of embodied teaching skills, and explore the question of what it is to transmit information with skill. Students are challenged to use the information that is explored in the weekends in developing principles of skillful teaching and to then put those principles into practice.
Within each workshop there are lectures on particular topics, asana practice and analysis, opportunities for structured explorations, teaching practice and feedback. These workshops can be taken individually, and in any order (though the final three weekends require attendance at previous workshops). These workshops are open to people who are interested in expanding their understanding of anatomy, kinesiology and physiology, and who want to develop their teaching skills in the context of embodiment. Pre-requisites are previous training in anatomy and kinesiology and at least one year's teaching experience. Class size is limited to 15 students.
