Tara Dhyani Purswani
Tara Dhyani Purswani is a therapeutic yoga teacher and breath coach. She trained in Integral Hatha Yoga at the Yogaville Ashram in 2007 and has completed two years of anatomy studies with Leslie Kaminoff at The Breathing Project. In 2009 Dhyani sought to support her journey in recovery through yoga and returned to Yogaville for a 5-day Yoga of Recovery retreat with Durga Catherine O'Neill. Dhyani has also studied with Nikki Myers, founder of Yoga of 12-Step Recovery and is a certified teacher/spaceholder for Y12SR meetings, and has additional studies in Chakras, Samskaras and Addiction with Trish Amsumati O'Sullivan. She continues to attend 12-step meetings regularly.
Dhyani's classes are alignment-based, breath-centered, Hatha-Vinyasa flow. She engages students by inviting them to connect to their highest selves, while not taking any of it too seriously. Her vulnerability, groundedness, and humor create a safe space to explore human complexity within the practice. She is known for teaching Restorative Yoga classes and leads therapeutic workshops such as Yoga for Your Moon Cycle and Restorative Yoga for a Balanced Nervous System. Dhyani's other interests include kirtan, Buddhist Insight meditation, and Uzazu (a Yin/Yang practice) - all a part of her mission to live in joy and abundance! In addition to The Breathing Project, Dhyani's classes and workshops can be found at Pure Yoga and Integral Yoga Institute.
