Uma Elizabeth McNeill

photo of Uma Elizabeth McNeillUma Elizabeth McNeill first studied yoga at the Jivamukti Yoga center in 1990. A year later, she went to India to get her Sivananda Yoga Teachers’ Training Certification in Neyyar Dam, Kerala, and Astanga Yoga training with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore. She has since studied with a variety of teachers in the United States and India, most notably, within the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar.

Uma runs the Berkshire Breathing Project in Great Barrington, Massachusetts where she teaches assisted self-practice and does therapeutic yoga work. The Berkshire location also offers a variety of yoga, movement, wellness, and therapeutic massage services.

Uma’s teaching method was the original inspiration for The Breathing Project’s Madras-style program. Uma and Leslie Kaminoff live together in Great Barrington with their 2 children. She is also an avid knitter.
